Bagels are such a tasty morning treat. Their round shape and hole in the middle make them really fun to draw and color. I like to use warm browns for a freshly baked whole wheat bagel. Adding little sesame or poppy seeds on top can make it look extra yummy!

For a blueberry bagel, light purples and blues are perfect. The bright blueberries popping out from the pale dough look so delicious. You could even add a smear of cream cheese peeking out for an extra breakfast-y touch.

Personally, I’m a big fan of everything bagels covered in seeds and seasoning. I’ll grab my brown, black, and yellow crayons to capture all the toasty details. Then maybe add a few little onions and garlic slivers too. So appetizing!

Creamy Spreads and Toppings

While the bagels themselves are fun to illustrate, you can also get creative with toppings and fillings! A swirl of strawberry cream cheese or chive cream cheese adds a pop of color and texture. Don’t be afraid to really load up your bagel masterpiece.

You could also draw slices of smoked salmon, capers, and red onion for a savory lox style bagel. Pepper, spinach, and egg make a hearty breakfast sandwich filling in your artwork. And let’s not forget a tower of fluffy scrambled eggs with melted cheese – yum!
